Microsoft has spoken out to congratulate Sony on the recent launch of the PlayStation 4, with various Xbox executives and team members praising their rival last night on Twitter.
“Congrats to the PS4 team on the launch of the PlayStation 4,” Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer said, calling out Sony executives Jack Tretton, Shuhei Yoshida, and Adam Boyes by name.
Meanwhile, Xbox director of product planning Albert Penello said, “Congrats to all my friends @PlayStation and [Adam Boyes] and [Shuhei Yoshida] on the launch of PS4. Great job, looking forward to Gen8!”
In addition, Xbox Live director of programming Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb said, “Congratulations to @PlayStation on their North American launch. cc [Shuhei Yoshida] and [Adam Boyes].”
The Xbox One launches next Friday, November 22. Microsoft will hold midnight launch parties across the world, including marquee events in New York City and Los Angeles featuring concerts from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (NYC) and Deadmau5 (Los Angeles).

Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Network in North America and Canada is suffering connection issues following the midnight launch of the PlayStation 4.
“The PlayStation Network is currently experiencing extrememely [sic] high volume, some gamers may experience some difficulty connecting,” said Sony on its support site. The original post has now been removed.
“We ask for your patience,” it added.
Those affected by the errors are reporting that they are unable to download the PlayStation 4′s day one update directly through the console. Those prepared to manually install the 1.50 update can fetch it from the PlayStation site and load it on to a USB stick.
The 1.50 firmware for PlayStation 4 is required to enable many of the system’s features, including Remote Play with a Vita, party chat, and Blu-Ray movie support.
